mediSIGHT – Reviewing a patient’s virtual assessment

Draft

Background

Virtual clinics involve a patient attending a clinic where information is gathered, and then the data being passed to a clinician for review after the patient has returned home.  This guide explains how to review the data obtained at a virtual assessment.

Instructions for recording the initial assessment can be found here.

The “Virtual Review” encounter type is available to Consultants, Residents and Nurse Practitioners.

Process
There are several ways of opening a patient’s data to complete a virtual review.  This guide provides the recommended process.
  1. Open mediSIGHT and find the patient
  2. Click “Events”
  3. Select the Virtual assessment event, shown by a question mark over the nurse icon:
  4. Click “Virtual Review” to open the review window
  5. Complete the encounter

Changing the status of an assessment

If a nurse assessment has been marked as a virtual assessment, but a virtual review will not be completed, then the virtual status can be cancelled.

  1. Complete steps 1-3 above
  2. Click “Details”
  3. Click the drop down list and select “Not for review”
A non-virtual nurse assessment can also be converted to a virtual assessment by following the steps again, but selecting a “Virtual” clinic.
Always pick a virtual review group, starting “Virtual”.  Do not select an individual clinician.
  4. Confirm the change

Alternatives for opening virtual review. (Not recommended)
These methods are not recommended.  See above.

Alternative 1 – Via “Create New”

This alternative is not recommended because it does not allow you to change the review status easily, or see which assessments have been done before opening the review.
  1. Open mediSIGHT and find the patient
  2. Click “Create new +”
  3. Click “Virtual review”
  4. Select the correct assessment and click “OK”

Alternative 2 – Via “Review List”

mediSIGHT v1.27 contains a bug which prevents the Review List loading for a number of users.
This alternative is not recommended because it does not allow for any errors in assigning the patient to a review worklist, including assigning patients to individual clinicians, or the wrong worklist.  Additionally, it tends to be a slow method for accessing the patients, with no ability to add or remove patients from the worklist.
  1. Open mediSIGHT, but do not locate a patient
  2. On the top bar, click “Review List”

  1. Select the review list from “For review by”
Leave “Pathway” and “Risk score” each set to “All” to avoid missing patients
  2. Click the refresh circle once, and wait (!) until the list is loaded.  (mediSIGHT will appear to do nothing for a while).

  1. For each patient that you wish to review, click the blue “Review” button and complete the encounter as usual.
