mediSIGHT – Homepage, Patient Overview, User Profile & Settings

Approved 26 August 2025 by mSGG (AR)

Background

This provides an explanation of the information available on the Homepage Dashboard (immediately after you login), and the Overview (when you open a patient).

Homepage Dashboard

An example of the Homepage Dashboard which loads when you first open mediSIGHT, or click “Home” is shown below.  This will appear slightly differently and is dependent on your user group.

  1. The navigation menu.  Provides the link “Home” to return to this page, along with “Review List” for virtual patients (see Guide here) and a link to the Audit suite.
  2. Find patient section.
  3. Recent patients.  This lists all patients that you have opened since midnight.  Clicking a patient in the list will open their record again.
  4. Incomplete patients.
    • All patients that you have started, but not finalised, an encounter are listed here.
    • Please note that you must complete any encounters within 1 week of the event, and they will be automatically deleted after 4 weeks.
    • You should review this list daily, and you will be reminded on closing mediSIGHT if you have outstanding patients in this section
  5. Draft documents
    • All patients that you have started a letter, and then clicked “Save for later” are listed here.
    • You should review these daily and sign letters within 7 days of the clinic (as per Clinical Documentation Policy)
    • Click on a letter to load the encounter for further editing and signing.
  6. Provides a link to the Settings menu.
    1. This can also be found under “Tools > Settings” in the top right
    2. The “Batch Print” option is available to system administrators only, allowing review of all letters awaiting Batch Printing (not used in NUTH)

Patient Overview Dashboard

An example homepage is shown below.  The homepage is not customisable by anyone (including Medisoft!)

  1. Patient details.  Note the name is displayed in the format “Firstname Surname (Title)”, with the firstname above the surname.
Note: Patients who have died are not clearly identified in the Overview screen, and their record remains editable (including sending letters). Please confirm patient status in Powerchart, or in the “Patient details” section of Navigation (see #4).
  2. Allergies.  Hovering over the area will provide more details.  Clicking “View” will take you to the “Allergies” section of “Patient details”.
  3. “Create new +”.  Allows the creation of all new encounter types available to your user group
  4. Navigation.
    • Overview shows this view.
    • Summaries provides a MR or Glaucoma focussed view of historical VA, IOP, and treatments
    • Events – complete list of all recorded activity
    • Visual Field Viewer – Reviews any visual fields imported to mediSIGHT
    • EyeBrowse – Provides a comparison, filtered, view of documents.  Useful in certain circumstances, it is recommended to use Events for most work
    • Problems – List of diagnoses
    • Medications
    • Injections
    • Investigations – Not used at NUTH. Allows documentation of investigations.  DOES NOT actually order any investigations.
    • Planned events – Planned clinic visits and procedures
    • Pathways – Management of the patient pathways
    • Patient Details – Shows the Patient Demographics, Allergies and Flags
    • Practitioners – Lists the clinicians associated with a patient
    • Apps – Not used
  5. Alerts – shows when the overview was last refreshed
  6. Care pathways – shows the active subspecialty pathways for the patient
  7. Current problems – lists active diagnoses
  8. Planned procedures – lists operations / procedures that are planned
  9. Planned visits – lists upcoming visits, with details about tests on arrival
  10. Plan – shows comments from the management plans documented in each encounter.
  11. Eye procedures – historical ophthalmic operations
  12. Past Ophthalmic History – POH
  13. Medical history – PMH
  14. Current medications – DH
  15. Diabetic status & HbA1c
  16. NOTE – Social history is not displayed on the Overview screen.  This information includes driving, employment and CVI status.
  17. Visual acuity (distance) – Always displayed in Snellen, shows a plot of VA over time.
This uses the best VA available on a visit, so may compare pinhole with BCVA and unaided.
  18. Other measurements – e.g. IOP, CCT & CDR
  19. IVI chart – Shows the total IVIs given, with a graphical and numerical representation of the number of each type of intravitreal injection (IVI).
  20. Recent findings – shows the most recent data input for a variety of clinical findings.
Note that refraction is not displayed.
  21. In the top right of most boxes is a hyperlink to the specific area of the patient’s record which contains more detail on the section.

User Profile

Your User profile can be found by clicking your login name at the top right.

You can edit your name and qualifications here, along with your Gender, Professional registration code, Email and Sign off.

Do not use the Subspecialty as this is not aligned to the NUTH subspecialty setup and will cause unexpected results

Your user type and Grade can only be changed by a system administrator – please email nuth.mediSIGHT@nhs.net if you have any concerns.

The Groups and Permissions tabs allow you to see your user group membership and Permissions that your account has.  Note that some of the groups have been repurposed, so may not seem to accurately reflect your role.  Please direct any queries to nuth.mediSIGHT@nhs.net

User settings

The user settings area allows you to change your defaults.  It can be accessed via the Tools menu in the top right, just under your name.

The settings are mostly self explanatory. A few points to note:
