How to order a referral for an inpatient. 

You must place a referral by ordering the referral via the workflow or the Requests/ Care Plans screen. Simply filling in a referral form instead of placing the order will not work as the relevant team will not be notified.

From the Workflow
  1. With the patient record open, go to Workflows and then to New Order Entry.
  2. Search for the referral you wish to place, i.e. ‘referral to servicename‘.
  3. Click the referral in the search results.
  4. Click the order basket.
  5. A summary of your orders will be shown, click Sign.
  6. Select the order in the top part of the screen.
  7. Complete any missing required details.
  8. Click Sign.
From Requests/Care Plans
  1. Go to the ‘Request / Care Plans‘ section in the blue menu to the left.
  2. Click ‘Add‘.
  3. Type in the order/referral you wish to place, i.e. ‘referral to inpatient servicename‘.
  4. Click once on the one you wish to place – it will turn blue.
  5. Click ‘Done‘.
  6. Select the order in the top part of the screen.
  7. Complete any missing required details.
  8. Click Sign.
