Documenting Allergies
How to document and manage allergy information in the patient record within PowerChart.
Add an allergy
- In any workflow screen, select the Allergies and Adverse Reactions component from the light grey menu on the left.
- In the search box on the right, search for the specific allergy.
- Select the appropriate allergy from the list.
- In the more details pop-up window on the right, select the appropriate Severity from the drop down list.
- For Food or other non-drug allergies the type must be selected from the Category drop down.
- Add reactions if known.
- Comments can be added in the Comments field.
- Click Save.
Modify, resolve or cancel an allergy
- In any workflow screen, select the Allergies and Adverse Reactions component from the light grey menu on the left.
- Select the Allergy that needs to be updated.
- Select Modify.
- Make the required changes.
- To resolve or cancel, select the appropriate option in the Status drop down.
- Click Save.
Add NKA or NKMA
- In any workflow screen, select the Allergies and Adverse Reactions component from the light grey menu on the left.
- Towards the left, select the button for No Known Allergies or No Known Medication Allergies.
- The selected option will be recorded.
