Continuous/ Titratable Drug Infusion – Starting
How to document the start of a Continuous/ Titratable Drug Infusion
- From the Drug Chart, click onto the appropriate medication blue IV square. The administration dialogue box will open
- Complete the Witnessed by field
- Select the site of the IV from the drop down menu
- Optional: click the comment button and complete the free text field with details of the batch number, the device number and then click OK
- Check all information is correct and then click the Apply button
- The Authorising Signature dialogue box will open
- The witness needs to enter their password then click OK
- The performed date and time will be displayed in the Begin Bag column along with the bag number and the Site of the Infusion
- Click the Sign button (green tick) in the top left corner of the screen to complete the process
- Click the Refresh button in the top right corner of the screen and the IV details will display in the Drug chart
Details about the type of line used to administer the infusion must be recorded on Assessments/ Fluid Balance in the appropriate Lines section
