Autotext
Did you know that you can create a repository of autotext within Fluency Direct? These autotext can be used anywhere including MS Office, Notepad and the Electronic Patient Record’s ad hoc forms, workflow free text fields and both Document Creation and Document Viewing!
How to create autotext:
- Press Play on the Speechmike Pro microphone and say “open commands”.
Note: Play vs Record microphone buttons.
Normally we press the record button when dictating; however, when issuing a command, it is best to use the play button as this tells the software that it is listening for a command. If you use the record button when issuing a command, it could be recognised as a command OR it could be rendered as voice to text.
- Select command group. You should have a personal group at the top of the list called “Your firstname Your surname’s Commands”.
- Commands within that group will be displayed to the right side of the window.
- Click +Add in the top right corner to create a new command.
- The Add a command window opens.
- Give the command a name in the format of “Insert <Name>“.
Tip: Keep the command name simple to pronounce. Capitalize the first letter of each word in the command name. Spell out numbers rather than using the numerals. Use an “action verb” at the beginning of each command name. Make sure the command is more than one word.
- In the Steps tab, choose “Text”.
- Type or dictate the desired text into the text field.
- The Details tab is useful if you wish to write a description for this command. You can also set command availability to be everywhere, only in certain applications, etc.
- Click Apply and then click OK.
How to use autotext:
- Place the cursor where you wish to insert autotext.
- Press Play and say “insert <name>”.
