Scenario/Information

If it’s decided following admission that a patient requires a theatre procedure, then a theatre appointment will be required for THE CURRENT ENCOUNTER, a NEW ENCOUNTER MUST NOT BE CREATED

Instruction
  1. Open SchApptBook
  2. Select the Appointment tab
  3. Search for the Appointment Type (tip: type “the” to locate the Theatres appointment types)
  4. Select the THEATRES ELECTIVE INPATIENT Theatre Appointment Type from the list for an existing inpatient
You must select the Appointment Type of Theatres Elective Inpatient for a patient that has already been admitted to a ward
  1. Appointment Location – select the theatre group where the procedure will take place
  2. Patient Name – click the ellipsis (…) to search for your patient by MRN or NHS Number (if this is not known, use initials and DOB to locate the correct patient)
  3. Once the Patient Search results display, check the top part of the screen to confirm you have located the correct patient.
  4. In the bottom part of the screen YOU MUST SELECT THEIR CURRENT ACTIVE INPATIENT ENCOUNTER – Click OK

  1. Select the Primary Surgeon – a performing surgeon and Anaesthetist can be selected in the fields below if required
  2. Complete the Priority
  3. Add any Additional Comments
  4. Click the Move button

  1. The Appointment Attributes dialog will open. In the lower portion of the screen, search for and select the procedure being performed
  2. Complete any required fields (check the pre-populated information is correct and amend if necessary)
  3. Click OK

  1. The Theatres diaries will now display.
            1. Select the appropriate date for the procedure
            2. Select the theatre and procedure appointment time
            3. Click the Schedule button
            4. Check the Theatre Schedule Information is correct and click OK
            5. Click the Confirm button
            6. Check the details on the Confirm Summary before clicking OK
  1. The scheduled Theatre appointment is now confirmed
