Quick Guide
You have opened a clinical letter:
- Department – displays department relevant to the selected encounter. You may need to change this if you opened the patient record on a different encounter. Change as appropriate by clicking on the downward arrow to reveal a drop down list.
- Clinic – defaults to none for inpatient encounters; for other types of encounter, can be used to change the address on the letter head, i.e. from RVI to Freeman.
- Lead Clinician – displays name of the lead consultant for this encounter. Change as appropriate.
- Signing Clinician – this is the clinician creating and signing this letter and can be different to the Lead. Upon finalisation, this letter will appear in their Document Signing list so it is important to select the correct person.
- Position – this is relative to the person chosen as Signing Clinician.
- Note: System remembers position for future letters.
- Custom is an option at the bottom of the list. Click on this if cannot find your position in the list. A new free text field, called Custom Position, will appear at the bottom of the Details list. Manually enter your position here.
- Clinic/Admit Date – displays the date from the selected encounter. Change as appropriate.
You MUST be both logged in and selected as Signing Clinician for authentication to take place. Authentication changes the green button from ‘Sign and Finalise’ to ‘Sign and Send’. If this is not done correctly, you will not be able to send the letter.
