OP Phlebotomy Order via the Nurse Workflow

Scenario

How to Place a Blood Order within Outpatients for Collection by a Phlebotomist via the Nurse Workflow

If you see an Ordering Clinician window open, select the Lead Clinician name and appropriate Communication type, then click OK.
Instructions
  1. Open the Patient record from Ambulatory Organiserthis ensures you always open the correct encounter.
  2. Ensure that the appropriate Workflow is selected in the blue menu, click on the Outpatient tab then select New Order Entry – If Outpatient Tab is not showing, click + then select Outpatient to make the tab available..
  3. Type the Blood Order Name in the Search Field.
  4. Left click on the required order which will be showing in the left-hand side column – this will now be highlighted blue.

  1. Click on the number next to the basket icon which will now be highlighted Green
  2. On the Orders for Signature select Sign

  1. Complete the following six Mandatory (Yellow) Fields ;
    • Collection Priority- Outpatient Phlebotomy
    • Collection Date and Time – Type T on the keyboard to insert Today’s Date and Non the keyboard to insert the current time
    • Lead Clinician to receive report – Select the Lead Clinician
    • Are you collecting this sample Now? – No
    • Reason for Request – Select appropriate Reason
    • Print Label – No

  1. Click Sign.
  2. Select Order Profile, click the refresh button, the phlebotomy order will now be showing as Ordered (Dispatched).
