Updating the Case Status on the Emergency List<\/h1>\r\n

How to update the case status for patients on the Emergency Theatre List in PowerChart.<\/p>\r\n

Introduction<\/div>\r\n\r\n

      <\/ol>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n
        \r\n
      1. The \u2018Case Action\u2019 column is accessible only by anaesthetists and theatre nurses, it has a drop down menu that allows management of the patients on the list.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
      2. The \u2018Case Status\u2019 column shows the result of choosing a \u2018Case Action\u2019. The default \u2018Case Status\u2019 when a case is added is \u2018Not Checked\u2019.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
      3. When the patient has been seen by an anaesthetist they should select the appropriate \u2018Case Action\u2019 option from the drop down menu:\r\n

        Not Ready<\/div>\r\n\r\n

        1. If the patient is not ready to go to theatre at that moment, or a change is reported that would prevent the case from going ahead (e.g. low BM\u2019s or high K+) then the anaesthetist (or theatre nurse) should select \u2018Not Ready<\/strong>\u2019.<\/li>\r\n
        2. On selecting \u2018Not Ready\u2019 a popup form will appear in which you should write the reason the patient is not ready to go to theatre.<\/li>\r\n
        3. Click the green tick at the top left of the form to save \"\".<\/li>\r\n
        4. When the form closes you will have to click \u2018OK\u2019.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

          1. The \u2018Case Status\u2019 <\/strong>box will change to orange and display \u2018Not Ready\u2019.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

            1. If the patient is ready for theatre (i.e. Can be sent for), then the anaesthetist should select \u2018Ready\u2019<\/strong> from the \u2018Case Action\u2019<\/strong> dropdown.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

              1. The \u2018Case Status\u2019 box will turn green and display \u2018Ready\u2019.<\/strong><\/li>\r\n
              2. The patient will be added to the scheduling list in SchApptBook.<\/strong><\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

                1. If for any reason the patient is cancelled, you can select the \u2018Cancel\u2019 <\/strong>reason in \u2018Case Action\u2019.<\/strong><\/li>\r\n
                2. A form will appear in which to document the cancel reason, when this is done the action should be completed by clicking on the green tick \"\".<\/li>\r\n
                3. The patient will then disappear from the list.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n
