Retrieve the patient record and document within the nursing assessment template under \u2018maintain safe environment\u2019.<br \/>&#8211; Within the template tick \u2018Patient has Key safe\u2019 or \u2018Patient door access key code\u2019 to confirm we have this information.<br \/>&#8211; Create a confidential note via the quick link within the template.<br \/>&#8211; Document the key safe number or door access code in the left hand column.<br \/>&#8211; Save consultation.<br \/>Please refer to the how to guide<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n<tr>\r\n<td>Information for patients<\/td>\r\n<td>&#8211; Inform the patient verbally this information will be kept securely on their record in line with the Information Security Policy.<br \/>&#8211; If the patient has capacity issues following a MCA assessment the patients next of kin\/family member should be informed<br \/>&#8211; If this is not possible a best interest\u2019s decision should be made to store the key code to ensure visiting professionals have access and the patient receives the appropriate care.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n<tr>\r\n<td>Keycode update on discharge from service<\/td>\r\n<td>&#8211; The clinical staff member completing the final episode of care documentation prior discharge from the service must locate the confidential notes in the clinical tree.
