{"id":22159,"date":"2026-03-23T11:57:42","date_gmt":"2026-03-23T11:57:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/training.nuth-itt.co.uk\/?page_id=22159"},"modified":"2026-03-23T14:49:06","modified_gmt":"2026-03-23T14:49:06","slug":"dental-hospital-powerchart-faq","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/training.nuth-itt.co.uk\/?page_id=22159","title":{"rendered":"Dental Hospital PowerChart FAQ"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><u>I\u2019ve completed a form &#8211; How do I get a document signed?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Unlike medications, notes and orders, documents such as OHAs do not go into your lead clinicians message centre.<\/p>\n<p>To sign a document on behalf of a student, the clinician should log in and open powerchart.\u00a0 They can then either:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Go to the \u201ccompleted forms\u201d section of the blue menu on the left of the screen. Right click on the incomplete form and select \u201cmodify\u201d from the drop-down menu.\u00a0 This should reopen the form.\u00a0 Click the green tick in the top left corner to sign the document<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Go into the Dental workflow and scroll down to the \u201cdocuments\u201d section. Any unsigned documents should be in the \u201cIn Progress\u201d section.\u00a0 Click on the document line (but not on the blue underlined title of the document) and a menu should open up from the right-hand side of the page.\u00a0 Click the continuous scrolling button in the top right corner of this window and then click the arrow in the top left corner (next to the title of the document).\u00a0 This should reveal a modify button.\u00a0 Click the modify button and the form should open.\u00a0 Click the green tick in the top left corner to sign the document.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once signed, refresh the page and the document should move into the completed documents section.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>I need to order medication or XRays &#8211; How to order medications and x-rays?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the dental workflow, go to the New Order Entry section.\u00a0 In the search bar, type in what you are searching for.\u00a0 Once you should get given a list of all the option available.\u00a0 Click on the option you want and it should move into your order basket (top right of the screen).\u00a0 If you need to order multiple things, you can do these at the same time.\u00a0 If you are a student, you will get an additional window appearing asking which lead clinician you are ordering on behalf of.\u00a0 Enter the clinician who will be signing the order off for you.<\/p>\n<p>Click on the basket and a new window should open with all the orders you have queued.\u00a0 If you click on each item, you will be given a page of information to fill in.\u00a0 The yellow boxes are mandatory and must be completed before the order can be signed off.<\/p>\n<p>Once all the boxes are filled in, click the sign button in the bottom right corner of the page.\u00a0 If you are a student, this will send the order request to your clinicians message centre for them to sign off.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>I\u2019m using the same orders all the time \u2013 How do I save them to favourites?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When you order an X-ray, drug or test from the New Order Entry, you can save it as a favourite for future.<\/p>\n<p>When you enter the order basket to complete the yellow fields, you can right click on the order and click \u201cAdd to favourites\u201d.\u00a0 These orders can be filed as you choose.\u00a0 If you have already completed any of the yellow fields below (i.e. \u201cLidocaine with Adrenaline 1 in 80,000\u201d requires a dose of 2.2 ml) before you add the order to your favourites, then this will also be saved next time you choose the drug from your favourites.<\/p>\n<p>To access, your favourites, when selecting the order initially choose \u201cmine\u201d below the search bar.\u00a0 Any favourites you have already saved will be waiting for you there.\u00a0 If you click on them, they will move into the order basket (already set up the way you saved them before).<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>My text is deleting itself as I type \u2013 how do I stop this<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Somehow, the insert function on your keyboard has been turned on.\u00a0 This may be through a technical fault or you may have pressed the insert key by accident.<\/p>\n<p>Press the insert key (next to the backspace button) in the top right of your keyboard and this should fix the problem.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>I\u2019ve made an error on a note \u2013 how do I delete it?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If a note has been signed with an error in it, you cannot delete the note from the \u201cnote viewing\u201d section without service desk getting involved.<\/p>\n<p>The person who wrote the note needs to log into their account, select the note from the \u201cnote viewing\u201d section of PowerChart and click the \u201cIn Error\u201d button at the top of the screen.\u00a0 If you have opened other notes, look for the tab at the top of the note page that says \u201cList\u201d.\u00a0 This will take you to all previously saved\/signed notes.<\/p>\n<p>When you click \u201cIn Error\u201d a box will appear asking why the note is to be marked in error.\u00a0 Type in why you wish to mark the note and then save the answer.\u00a0 The note will then have a large error message tagged onto the front, but will remain in the list.<\/p>\n<p>If you need to add something onto a note that has been missed, but the note does not need to be marked in error, you can also click the \u201cmodify\u201d button at the top.\u00a0 This will give you the option to add an addendum to the note where you can add further details.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>My patient has rescheduled \u2013 How do I document this?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Using ambulatory organiser, select the rescheduled encounter with the patient.\u00a0 This will ensure the notes you create are recorded in the correct place and with the correct encounter.<\/p>\n<p>Leave a free text note saying your patient has rescheduled and save the patient record.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>I need to add an allergy but I can&#8217;t find the right fit?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>To add an allergy to a patient&#8217;s record, scroll to the Allergies section of the Dental workflow.\u00a0 Search for any allergies you need.<\/p>\n<p>If you cannot find an allergy for a patient, you can search for &#8220;comment&#8221;
