Medicus is not just about providing information to ICNARC and NHS England. Staff with an interest in research can audit the data held in the Trust’s Medicus database.

\nCreate a dataset to search.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Click Views<\/strong> in top blue banner bar.<\/li>\n
  2. Select All patients (incl V3).\u00a0<\/strong>The other options in this menu have a filter applied which you may find useful.<\/li>\n
  3. Select initial date<\/strong> and final date<\/strong> to define a time frame for your dataset.<\/li>\n
  4. Click on View<\/strong>. This is your searchable dataset.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Design your search, a.k.a. Super Query.<\/p>\n

    1. Click on Reports<\/strong> in top blue banner bar.<\/li>\n
    2. Select Super Query. Note: this option is not available until a dataset has been defined.<\/mark><\/strong><\/li>\n
    3. Create your simple (search against one field) or compound (search against multiple fields) query.<\/li>\n

      Save and load queries (just the parameters, not the results) for later use.\u00a0Click the Save button in top right corner and give the query a name. For later use, click on the Load button and select your query from the list. This list includes queries saved by all users with permission to access the unit.<\/p>\n

    4. Click on Search all<\/strong> (searches on all records in the database) or Search selection <\/strong>(searches on the current set of selected records).<\/li>\n
    5. Bottom window will populate with results.<\/li>\n
