Ordering Bloods Add On Tests<\/h1>\n

Scenario<\/div>
\nYou need to add more lab tests on to a blood sample that has already been sent to the lab.<\/p>\n
<\/i> All URGENT requests should be requested via the normal process of a phone call.<\/p>\n

PLEASE NOTE: Add-on requests are NOT able to be processed by Microbiology and Virology Services.
\nIf you have sent a sample for Virology testing and would like to add on further testing, please contact the laboratory to discuss on 38196.
\nIf you have sent a blood sample to the Blood Sciences Laboratories, this will not be able to be processed by Virology, please send a new sample.<\/div>\n

  1. Click on +Add<\/strong> found on the right side of the Requests\/Care Plans tab in the left side, dark blue menu.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  2. Search for add on<\/strong> and press enter<\/strong>.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  3. Click on Add on lab test – Blood Sciences<\/strong>.<\/li>\n

    <\/i> Nurses will see a pop-up window called “Ordering Clinician”. Fill in as appropriate ensuring the appropriate clinician is specified in the “Clinician name” field. This field auto populates with the lead clinician’s name for this patient but may not be the same as clinician requesting the test.<\/div>

  4. A decision support window opens. Please read and action as appropriate. When finished, click on OK<\/strong> in the bottom right corner of the screen.

  5. Click Done<\/strong> in the bottom right corner of the screen.<\/li>\n

  6. Fill in order details as appropriate. In the “Specimen number (if known)” field, please enter the Accession number<\/strong> if known, otherwise, enter unknown<\/strong> or most recent request<\/strong> and the lab will assign.
