{"id":10283,"date":"2026-05-14T08:24:17","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T08:24:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/training.nuth-itt.co.uk\/?page_id=10283"},"modified":"2026-05-14T08:56:54","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T08:56:54","slug":"adding-a-patient-to-a-tci-waiting-list-elective-theatre","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/training.nuth-itt.co.uk\/?page_id=10283","title":{"rendered":"Adding a patient to a TCI Waiting List \u2013 Elective Theatre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If a patient is required to come into the Trust for a day case or inpatient stay, they will need to be added to a TCI list from which they will be admitted when they arrive on the ward\/dept<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open <strong>SchApptBook<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Select the <strong>Appointment<\/strong> tab<\/li>\n<li>Search for and select the <strong>Appointment Type<\/strong> (tip: type \u201cthe\u201d to locate Theatres Elective appointments)<\/li>\n<li>Appointment Location \u2013 select the hospital site\/theatre suite where the patient will arrive<\/li>\n<li>Patient Name \u2013 click the ellipsis (\u2026) to search for your patient <strong>by MRN or NHS Number <\/strong>(if this is not known, use initials and DOB to locate the correct patient).\u00a0Once the Patient Search results display, check the top part of the screen to confirm you have located the correct patient.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Add Encounter<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Yes<\/strong> to the pop up \u2013 Is this a Waiting list encounter?<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Inpatient Waiting List <\/strong>from the Available Conversations pop up, click <strong>OK<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The patients\u2019 pathway information will display \u2013 select the correct pathway, click <strong>OK \u2013 If there is no pathway for this encounter, right click and select Add Episode, then select the newly created encounter<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>The Inpatient Waiting List form displays<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol start=\"10\">\n<li>Ensure the yellow requied fields are switched on (right click in a grey space and select Highlight Required fields \u2013 first time use only) and complete any required information from the patient demographic page<\/li>\n<li>Open the <strong>Inpatient Waiting List <\/strong>tab\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>Complete the <strong>Date on Waiting List <\/strong>(tip: type the letter T to use todays\u2019 date)<\/li>\n<li>Complete all other required fields<\/li>\n<li><strong>Complete the Ward that the patient will be admitted to<\/strong> \u2013 if this is not selected, the patient will not display on the TCI list for the Ward Clerk when the patient arrives (you do not need to locate a bay or bed)<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Once the relevant information has been completed on the Waiting List form, the system will return to SchApptBook<\/strong> <strong>where the remaining fields would be completed<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol start=\"12\">\n<li>Select the Primary Surgeon \u2013 a performing surgeon and Anaesthetist can be selected if required<\/li>\n<li>Complete the <strong>Priority<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Add any Additional Comments<\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>Move <\/strong>button<\/li>\n<li>The Appointment Attributes dialog will open.
